Danica Erickson is the daughter of the transporter's inventor, Emory Erickson, and a longtime friend of Jonathan Archer. In Daedalus she comes aboard Enterprise with her father to test a new transporter system and confides that he has not been himself since the loss of her brother Quinn.
It emerges that the test is cover for an attempt to retrieve Quinn, and Danica has helped keep this from Archer. The discovery that his friends have misled him and endangered the crew strains Archer's relationship with the family.
