Picard's friend from his days as a young officer whose quarrel with Nausicaans led to the fight that nearly killed Picard.
Corey Zweller is one of Picard's friends from his early Starfleet career, alongside Marta Batanides. On Starbase Earhart, after being cheated by a Nausicaan at a game of dom-jot, he decides to rig the next match, setting up the brawl in which Picard was stabbed through the heart.
In Tapestry, when Q lets Picard relive the episode, Picard talks Zweller out of his plan and restrains him from fighting the Nausicaans. The cautious choice leaves Zweller humiliated, and Picard's friendship with him suffers along with the course of his whole career.
