Barnes is an unjoined Trill ensign who usually staffs the Cerritos operations station and is twice the object of Rutherford's romantic hopes.
Barnes is an unjoined Trill serving as an ensign aboard the USS Cerritos. She is most often seen at the operations station on the bridge, and she appears regularly throughout the series as part of the ship's crew. She was voiced by Jessica McKenna.
In Second Contact, Rutherford is on a date with Barnes when an alien virus carried aboard by Commander Ransom turns much of the crew violent. The two fight off infected crew members together, but Rutherford loses interest when Barnes shows no enthusiasm for the ship's engineering. A later attempt to date her also fails.
