Azetbur was the daughter of Chancellor Gorkon and travelled with him aboard Kronos One in 2293 as he headed to peace talks with the Federation. She was present when her father was killed by assassins who appeared to come from the Enterprise.
Named chancellor after his death, Azetbur faced strong pressure from Klingons who wanted revenge and from those who distrusted the Federation. She allowed James T. Kirk and Leonard McCoy to be tried for the murder, but she also kept the peace effort alive, agreeing to a new conference at Khitomer. There a plot to assassinate the Federation president was exposed and stopped by the crew of the Enterprise, revealing that the attack on her father had been planned by conspirators on both sides.
Azetbur's resolve in continuing her father's work was essential to the signing of the Khitomer Accords, the treaty that laid the foundation for the later alliance between the Klingon Empire and the Federation.
