A late 24th-century Starfleet starship class that fought the Borg at the Battle of Sector 001 in 2373.
The Steamrunner-class was a Starfleet starship design of the late 24th century, recognizable by its flattened saucer and twin nacelles joined to a broad structure at the rear of the hull. It was one of several newer designs, together with the Akira, Saber and Norway classes, first seen in the Borg battle of 2373.
Steamrunner-class ships were part of the Starfleet fleet that engaged a Borg cube in the Battle of Sector 001, where the Enterprise-E joined the fight against orders. Ships of the class later appeared among Starfleet forces during the Dominion War.
