The Haakona was a Romulan warbird commanded by Subcommander Taris. In Contagion it shadowed the Enterprise into the Neutral Zone after the USS Yamato was destroyed, as both ships converged on the ancient Iconian homeworld.
The same Iconian computer program that had wrecked the Yamato spread to the Enterprise and then to the Haakona, crippling its systems and pushing its engines toward overload. Picard uncovered the cure, a complete shutdown and restart of the affected systems, and the Enterprise passed it to Taris, allowing both crews to survive the encounter.
