The Orias system lies inside Cardassian space and is officially considered barren and worthless. In Defiant, Thomas Riker takes the stolen Defiant there for the Maquis, believing the system hides a secret shipbuilding facility.
Gul Dukat orders his ships to intercept, but the Obsidian Order agent Korinas warns that any vessel approaching Orias will be destroyed. Warships emerge from the system, revealing that the Order has been building a forbidden military force. Sisko gives Dukat the Defiant's sensor logs of the system in return for his ship and crew.
