A warlike planet in the M43 Alpha system whose society was remodeled on Nazi Germany by the Federation historian John Gill.
Ekos is the inner of two inhabited planets in the M43 Alpha system. Its people were divided and warlike when the historian John Gill was sent as a cultural observer, and he reorganised their society along the lines of Nazi Germany in the belief that it was efficient.
In Patterns of Force, Kirk and Spock find Ekos under a brutal regime run by Gill's deputy Melakon, who persecutes Zeons living on the planet and is preparing to invade Zeon. With help from the underground, the regime is exposed and Ekosians and Zeons begin to make peace.
