Deneb IV is the home planet of the Bandi and the site of Farpoint Station, the Enterprise-D's first destination.
Deneb IV is the world of the Bandi people and the location of Farpoint Station, the destination of the Enterprise-D's first mission in Encounter at Farpoint. The Bandi offered the remarkable station to Starfleet as a base, though they could not explain how they had built it or how it was powered.
While the Enterprise was in orbit, an unknown alien vessel fired on the old Bandi city on the planet. The ship was in fact a living being searching for its captured mate, which the Bandi had been forcing to serve as Farpoint Station. Once the truth came out, both creatures departed Deneb IV together.
