American costume designer who led costume design for The Next Generation from its third season and went on to dress Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise.
Robert Blackman, an American costume designer born in 1943, joined Star Trek: The Next Generation with the third-season opener Evolution, replacing the show's previous costumer. Over the following years he created costumes for Starfleet officers and for a wide range of alien cultures.
Blackman became head of costume design for the franchise, continuing on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise.
