American writer and director who directed The Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country and co-wrote The Voyage Home.
Nicholas Meyer (born 1945) is an American novelist, screenwriter and director. He first became known for the Sherlock Holmes novel The Seven-Per-Cent Solution and for writing and directing the time-travel film Time After Time.
Meyer directed Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) and wrote its shooting script without screen credit, combining elements of several earlier drafts into a naval-flavored story of aging, loss and revenge built around Khan Noonien Singh. He then co-wrote Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), handling its scenes set in twentieth-century San Francisco.
He returned to direct and co-write Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991), a Cold War allegory about peace between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Decades later he served as a consulting producer on Star Trek: Discovery. His other work includes the television film The Day After.
