American composer whose dark, dramatic score for The Undiscovered Country was the breakthrough of his career.
Cliff Eidelman (born 1964) is an American composer and conductor. He was still in his twenties when Nicholas Meyer chose him to score Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991), and the work, built around dark and brooding orchestral writing, is considered his breakthrough.
The film's music accompanies the final voyage of the original Enterprise crew and the assassination plot against Chancellor Gorkon. Eidelman's other credits include Christopher Columbus: The Discovery, Triumph of the Spirit and Free Willy 3: The Rescue, along with concert works.
