Chelah Horsdal is a Canadian actress known for regular roles on Hell on Wheels, When Calls the Heart and The Man in the High Castle, along with appearances in films such as Passengers and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
On Star Trek: Discovery she played Laira Rillak, the president of the United Federation of Planets introduced in the fourth season. Of Bajoran, Cardassian and human descent, Rillak steered the Federation through the crisis of the dark matter anomaly and the first contact with Species Ten-C, often clashing and later cooperating with Michael Burnham.
