A celebrated baseball player in Benny Russell's 1950s Harlem who flirts with Cassie, played by Michael Dorn.
Willie Hawkins is a famous baseball player in Far Beyond the Stars, the 1953 vision in which Benjamin Sisko lives as Benny Russell. He is played by Michael Dorn, mirroring Worf, and is a local hero in the neighbourhood.
Willie flirts openly with Benny's girlfriend Cassie, though she remains faithful to Benny. His status as a sports star offers a contrast with Benny, whose talent as a writer is denied recognition because of his race.
