A respected mediator who secretly used other people as receptacles for his own negative emotions, nearly killing Deanna Troi.
Ramid Ves Alkar was a Lumerian ambassador known for his calm and his skill as a mediator. In Man of the People the Enterprise-D carried him to negotiations, accompanied by an elderly woman he claimed was his mother. After she died, he invited Deanna Troi to share in a funeral ritual.
Troi soon became hostile and aggressive and began ageing rapidly. Dr. Crusher found that the woman had been only thirty and that Alkar had been transferring his dark emotions into her. Crusher put Troi into an apparent death to break the link, and Alkar, unable to find a new host in time, aged and died.
