Taya is a young girl in the village Odo and Dax visit in Shadowplay, introduced as Rurigan's granddaughter. Her mother is among the villagers who have disappeared, and she and Odo bond over both being without parents as he questions her.
Taya shows the investigators the edge of the valley, where her arm begins to vanish when she reaches past it, revealing that the village is a hologram. After the reactor is repaired and her mother returns, Odo shows his affection for her by turning into a spinning toy she had been playing with.
