First officer of the Equinox who led a mutiny against Captain Rudy Ransom and was killed by the nucleogenic aliens his crew had been slaughtering.
Max Burke was Rudy Ransom's first officer aboard the USS Equinox, a small science vessel stranded in the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker. Played by Titus Welliver, he had once dated B'Elanna Torres when both were at Starfleet Academy. Burke was a willing participant in the crew's practice of killing nucleogenic lifeforms to fuel their enhanced warp drive.
When Ransom finally recognized his crimes and tried to return to Voyager, Burke led a mutiny against him. Ransom transported the crew members he could reach to Voyager, but Burke and three other mutineers were killed by the aliens before the Equinox was destroyed.
