A member of Kruge's crew aboard the Klingon Bird-of-Prey, taken prisoner by Kirk after the battle at the Genesis Planet.
Maltz is one of the Klingon officers serving under Commander Kruge aboard his Bird-of-Prey when Kruge sets out to seize the secret of the Genesis device. He remains aboard the ship when Kruge goes down to the dying Genesis Planet, where Kruge holds Kirk and his companions.
After Kruge dies on the planet, Kirk imitates his voice to have Maltz beam him aboard, and takes the Bird-of-Prey with Maltz as the only member of its crew left alive. Ashamed to have survived, he asks Kirk to kill him, but Kirk keeps him as a prisoner instead. He was played by John Larroquette.
