One of the designers of the Enterprise's engines, whose obsession with Miranda Jones and attempt to kill Kollos drive him mad.
Laurence Marvick is an engineer who helped design the Enterprise. In Is There in Truth No Beauty? he is aboard to help with the Medusan ambassador Kollos, whose appearance drives humans insane, and he is secretly in love with Kollos's companion Dr. Miranda Jones, who has rejected him.
Jealous of the bond between Miranda and Kollos, Marvick attempts to kill the ambassador, but sees Kollos and loses his mind. He seizes control of the ship and drives it beyond the edge of the galaxy before he dies. Spock must mind-meld with Kollos to bring it back. He was played by David Frankham.
