A Cardassian working as an undercover agent for the Federation who returned to Cardassian space with Sito Jaxa.
Joret Dal is a Cardassian secretly working for the Federation. He arrives in an escape pod with vital intelligence and must then return to Cardassia without raising suspicion.
In Lower Decks, Picard assigns Ensign Sito Jaxa to pose as Joret's captive. The plan is for Joret to fly back across the border in a damaged shuttle and send Sito back in an escape pod, appearing to have let a prisoner escape. The pod never reaches safety, and Sito is presumed killed by the Cardassians.
