A Federation philanthropist missing for five years, whose identity is assumed by a Vendorian spy in The Survivor.
Carter Winston is a famous Federation philanthropist and trader who disappeared five years before The Survivor. When the Enterprise picks up a small ship near the Romulan Neutral Zone, its pilot appears to be Winston, and his return is greeted with joy, especially by his fiancée, Anne Nored, an Enterprise security officer.
The man is really a Vendorian, a shapeshifter working with the Romulans, who has taken Winston's form. He breaks off the engagement and leads the ship into a trap, but having absorbed some of Winston's personality, he ultimately protects the Enterprise. The real Winston had died. Winston was voiced by Ted Knight.
