The leader of Capella IV's Ten Tribes, killed in a coup at the start of Friday's Child, whose infant son becomes the new Teer.
Akaar is the Teer, or ruler, of the Ten Tribes of Capella IV when the Enterprise arrives in Friday's Child to negotiate a mining treaty for the planet's topaline. A Klingon agent named Kras is competing with Kirk for the rights.
Akaar is soon overthrown and killed by Maab, who prefers the Klingons, and his pregnant widow Eleen is condemned to die with the unborn heir. Her son survives to become Teer, named Leonard James Akaar in honor of McCoy and Kirk. Akaar was played by Ben Gage.
